The silence yawned before them, a chasm that seemed unbreakable in itself. It was unbearable but soothing. Painful yet oddly poignant.
Neither moved a muscle, loathe to take their eyes off each other. Staring, straining, in a vain hope of reading the other. Suddenly, he moved and with a flick of the wrist, announced
"Checkmate"
Inspired by Sepia mutiny, I have decided to introduce 55 fiction!! into my very limited blogging palate because the concept of squeezing a story out of 55 words excites my dormant literary sense.
So, I've decided to make Saturday (if I remember) 55 fiction day :)
