The reason why I do not blog about intelligent things is because I am elitist.
There I said it.
I do not want to just share my intelligence WITH JUST ANYONE, you know. Its precious and sacared. Not all you minions can understand the complex workings of my brain and well, rather than alienate you poor deluded fools, I bring myself down to your level.
(And here, I was so sad that I didn't warrant any hate tags. but thank you crusader, because NOW I am no longer an out-cast. I have joined the club of being spammed!!
**Its funny I got tagged about this because I was just complaining to J and L how I should come up with an illusion, like they have, about being intelligent because people oft think I am an idiot because I rarely pause and assess what comes out of my mouth. I will have to beef up my vocabulary and coat my bimbo-ness in long flowing dramatic posts.
** and thank you my knightess' in shining armour. )
In trouble. Trying to get out of trouble. inducing other people to get into trouble. Bailing other people out of trouble. Always in trouble.

right back 'atcha
NotDimples and I weaved in and out of conversation all night, over the course of many hours. At the end of the night, he insisted on walking me out to help me find a cab.
TheBarmaid: So....
NotDimples: So....
TheBarmaid: You aren't going to ask for my number?
NotDimples: Well....
TheBarmaid: I don't understand. Help me understand. You talked to me all night.
NotDimples: I should go back in and hang out with my friends.
TheBarmaid: Oh? Are you gay? If you are, I'm sorry -- you don't have to ask for my number.
NotDimples: I'm not gay. But what would you say if I told you I was married?
TheBarmaid: Are you kidding?! I can't do this again this week. Where's your wedding ring? Where's, um, your wife?
NotDimples: I don't wear a wedding ring. And my wife is asleep across the street at our house.
TheBarmaid: I don't have time for this. I don't understand why you spent so much time talking to me tonight and this never came up.
NotDimples: Well, when you see a beautiful, sexy woman in a room, you have a conversation --
TheBarmaid: (spinning on heels and walking away) I've heard those superlatives before, this week, actually, and I have to go.
NotDimples calls after me and then retreats back into the bar to fetch his friend, Eric-with-a-K.
I cross the street and there is nary a cab in sight. I call my friend, who started the night with me and left a few minutes before I did, to fill her in on the tragic end of NotDimples and to philosophize (as you only can at 2 in the morning) as to why Philanderer's Quarterly has declared me "Centerfold of the Year".
Normally, the actions of NotDimples wouldn't have bothered me quite so much, but compounded with the rest of the week's events I was out for the count. I start a loud "NotDIMPLES WAS MARRIED! CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT?" conversation while trying to find a cab on the desolate street. At this point, NotDimples and Eric-with-a-K leave the bar, hear my conversation and exclaim, "Calm down! It's not that big of a deal!"
"You shut up!" I retort.
Enter the DCPD.
The police car turns the corner and pulls over to me. The officer rolls down the window of the passenger side.
TheBarmaid: "Officers. I know you're on duty and this isn't in your job description but I've had a really bad week. First I found out the guy that I've been sort-of involved with for the last seven months got engaged last month. And took me out to dinner this week. And failed to mention it to me. Then that guy over there spent all night flirting with me [Officers turn to look] and it turns out he's married with a wife at home. It would be kind of great to make a big exit right now."
Officer1: "Get in."
Officer2: "Guys are scum. We'll get him."
They pull a u-turn in the street, slowly tail NotDimples and Eric-with-a-K, activate the siren in a short spurt, and speed me away to better days and a brighter future.
I open the partition to talk to them on the way home. Turns out I'm the first Indian girl they've ever carted around in the backseat of the squad car. I thank them profusely for the rescue. Officer1 puts on his PR hat and says, "Maybe you can spread the word that, you know, police officers aren't horrible people." Officer2 goes into Media Relations mode and agrees, "Yeah, we have kind of a bad rap. We're good guys."
And that they were -- in one fell swoop turning a week laden with half-truths, deceit, and dishonesty into the night the DCPD drove me home in the greatest, grandest exit I've ever made in my life.

Eh, i'll do this for you once I get my license [soon.er, real soon] and we'll affix a siren on my [dad's] car

Join my music legion!
Some people rediscover love, others religion, and quite a few, food.
I have re discovered >>Our Lady Peace<<
The first time I listened to them was in sec 2, when I happened to catch "Life" on some obscure music program, in India ( of all places =]). I thought the song was nice but, er, I was still being weaned off 5ive,Westlife and the Thongthongthongthongthong . This was the period where I thought Oasis was trash ( i know. i never cease to amaze myself), and anything with a extended stanza devoted to guitar was a no-no. Sadly, a rather forgettable first impression
I was re introduced to it, when their 2002 album Gravity came out, by Nuha. Originally, I refused to enter because I thought was directing me to a porn site.( Perfectly acceptable conclusion because previously she directed me to whitehouse.com for "social studies". Its got alot of social studying alright, just not ideas I think would be appreciated by any of the O'level examiners). I was crazy about their first release "Somewhere out there" but I got over it becuase I was trying to pursue alternative tastes like Mr fiddy cent and"I'm-always-wearing-a-plaster-cuz-its-getting hawt-in-here" Nelly.
And then I discover them all over again recently and I
them! so much =)
All their old songs from their 1994 - 2000 albums are fantastically terrific, its almost scary. Since, they've changed quite a few band members, during their course (I think Raine Maida, (vocals) is the only original band member left), each album is actually different, as though plugged out by a different band. The influences are constantly changing and its picked up and highlighted in a really rousing thumping sing along with me way. Plus, it doesn't hurt that Raine Maida (what a dishy name eh?) looks

like this * dreamy smile* =)
He's married though, to none other than Chantal Kreviazuk ( For the uninitiated, its a good thing you escaped the weepy blahness of Armageddon but missed out on her great cover of John Denver's "Leaving on a jetplane")
Welcome back craving addictive feeling of needing to listen to music over and over again. =)
**edit: oh, whitehouse.com no longer a porn site, as I was informed by my very "knowledgeable" friend. Its always good to keep up with current affairs yeah? Plus, I already know some buggers out there would have typed it in your PCs to check it out. So don't say I didn't warn you !

Fiction that whizzes by : flash fiction
The silence yawned before them, a chasm that seemed unbreakable in itself. It was unbearable but soothing. Painful yet oddly poignant.
Neither moved a muscle, loathe to take their eyes off each other. Staring, straining, in a vain hope of reading the other. Suddenly, he moved and with a flick of the wrist, announced
"Checkmate"
Inspired by Sepia mutiny, I have decided to introduce 55 fiction!! into my very limited blogging palate because the concept of squeezing a story out of 55 words excites my dormant literary sense.
So, I've decided to make Saturday (if I remember) 55 fiction day :)
If anybody is interested, please feel free to come up with one in the comments! :)

I mention no names
If this is the kind of brilliance she comes up with, just on sugar and coffee, I just wish she would get flaming roaring drunk.

WHY I HATE LAW SCHOOL (and co.) WITH A BURNING VENGENCE
what have i been reading for 40 pages, the FAKE ARGUMENT?
(and the answer is YES YES YES. U annoying SNIZZLEKATS)
what kind of crappy author are you anyway. YOU CANNOT STICK SOMETHING LIKE that in the middle of the damnned reading. ITS WRONG to let people think that they are reading something worthwhile, while you are laughing silently because WE ARE NOT. and I JUST WASTED half hour of MY time (which i have precious little of) READING A FAKE ARGUMENT
(Wth is a fake argument anyway? How can argue something fakely? You smile alot is it? look plastic? pretend interest in opposing counsel's argument when you don't give a shit?)
What makes my heart pound with vengence, make my palms sweaty and my face is contort in rage is your grandoise announcement. That you have to UNVEIL the "REAL" argument. IF YOU DID NOT TELL ME, I would have been safely cocooned in my little bubble of satisfaction that I did not waste my half hour and would have been marginally happy that I was progressing in this place which sets bloody hard exams) BUT noooooooooooooooooooooooooo.
I BET YOU WERE A SADISTIC LITTLE BOY. The little snitch in class, Teacher's pet and thought you were annoyingly clever. And even now, I bet you are snickering, because I am wasting my time by blogging my wrath.
AND I SO BET YOU ARE A GUY. Oh wait, I KNOW you're a guy. may your real balls shrivel up and you have to get fake steel ones, and one day, may a really hot model, unfortunately due to her stereotypically fluffy brain, want to sleep with you and she will ask you what happens to the "REAL" balls, when she finally realises that she has been playing with your fake ones, oh, about 40 pages later. She will then slap you and leave, and ask you to be a REAL MAN. And I will laugh at you andask tell you SO MUCH FOR THE REAL ARGUMENT HUH?"
bastard.
after 42 pages of mindless legal philosophy, i come across the heading
The REAL ARGUMENT FOR SEMANTIC THEORIES

I believe >> this << is the first blog proposal I have come across. How sweet, probably better than TomKat's public proposal because how much more public, can you get than the internet. More importantly, if he ever forgot when he proposed, there's always technorati for him :P Who needs a good old memory now.

Saturday, April 8
and that, ladies and gentlemen, was the final curtain call.
Since alot of exciting exciting things have happened since I last updated, I have decided to make use of my friendly list again(as you all know, I have issues with accepting certain part of my virgoish bits ( I was going to say virginal but I was afraid I would receive indecent proposals from highly enthusiastic people) so I try not to make lists but I do them anyway)
1) Anyway, the reason for update was that I was sick of seeing the picture of the law society website hacked and have been systematically trying to induce as many posts as I can to push it down as far as I can to get everything back to normal.
Alternatively, I can also change my settings in blogger, but pish! what a mundane way to go about things.
2) Excuse my Victorian english which expands my verbosity (yes, this is marginally better than when I kept sprouting "pish posh" last year but still, it can be highly vexing) but as you can see, it is because I have been have been keeping the company of England's finest rakes company as they fall in love one by one, instead of devoting my attentions to passing this semester. But, its so fun to reread my old novels and see all the dashing Bridgertons and Bar Cynster, as compared to, I don't know, the musty company of Lord Diplock and Devlin J. However, I do think Devlin is a rather dashing and swoon worthy name, for a lack of better word(s), just like Lord Denning but I think Denning was old and bald, in real life, which means, that if Brenda was born earlier, she would have set her cap for him. ( that was said in pure pre emptiveness (?) to the comment that I forsee in my tag-board which would run along the lineof "bald men are sexy")
3) I was typing the earlier paragraph with a British accent. You, know, it just sounds in your head, can't help it. Just like I can't help typing like I am Leopold (from Kate and Leopold).
4) Its super late and rather moot (heh) to take about my moots but it went okay. In retrospect, it was not as terrible as I whined about but it definitely could have gone better, especially since, the men I have kept company with, may have loads of fictitious money, but none of the famed brains which I need to pass this semester. I tried bribing Eleanor Wong for extra credit, when she needed salt and pepper (yes, how coincidental, we all went to breakfast at the same place but thank god, different tables) but she was unmoved by my impassioned pleas. Sadly, my beginnings as an advocate seem dismal.
5) Sunday was a day spent playing paaaaaaintbaaaaaaaaaaaall! and creating noise pollution in my lovely tutor's apartment.
I tell you, I got shot the most despite the fact that I was the only girl that was covered from head to toe. And the men are an unchivalrous lot. I got hit in my ass another 2 times when I was retreating to recover from my wounds. Bloody bastards. I know I probably insulted you guys quite a bit, especially James and Jeth. (Oh, we met his gf, Jiahui, a throughly lovely girl who refuses to make Jeth work at being a bf.tsk) but still no reason to mortally wound me. Still, it was loads of fun. And man, was there alot of poetic justice being played out. ('tis a day for hyperbole, it seems)
If there is one thing, why I am still in this bloody law school, despite the grievious amount of work and the SUPREME lack of eye candy is because someday I will be like my tutor, supposedly earning a pittance that can afford me a place like Scotts 28, which by the way is a stone's throw from Newton OR Orchard MRT. Then again, she probably is earning a pittance because she is used to staying near the coastline in Chicago. If you pick up a calender featuring the coastline, you can see her apartment. And that is enough, to turn even the most jaded cynic's heart into something resembelling a misshapen lump of love.
Anyway, kudos to people in my class, and a special thank you to Darryl, who actually was lovely enough to get me proper vegetarian food, (and he didn't even ask me to get it which means he get full 100% credit), as compared to the kanandecob (watch this if you have no idea what that means) and the the scrap vegetables I used to get as well, like a bonus. I also finally learnt how to play mahjong, somewhat, under the rather expert tutoring of Nikki and the incompetent follow up by James. Also a thank you for the damn good ice cream that TG 13 bought.
Omg, and how could I have forgot the "The hunt for the mahjong tiles". Since, my tutor was enamoured with the online version of mahjong, we decided to get her the real set for her as a surprise. And so we trooped off to Takashimaya, but I couldn't follow Jeth, Joseph and Jiahui (hence forth known as triple J) as my wonderful Filas were falling apart, literally. They were flapping. Its like they became a part of me, and hence had to emulate my verbosity my unhinging their soles. As I walked, they talked. So I trooped to adorn my feet with proper flipflops and avoided seeing triple J not get fleeced by this woman. So off, we went to Chinatown, and I went into a Tekka looking place, but in Chinatown, for the first time. It looked quite cool and with some expert negotiations within minutes, we were in possession of a mahjong set, which my tutor expressed her love for here.

Note open mouth and incredulously joyous expression!
But the one of the 2 highlights of the day, sadly, was only viewable by Joseph, Jiahui and I, which led us to question how exactly Jeth got his license (and leaves me to ponder the unfairness of me yet to gain mine). Sadly, I think to detail the incident would leave him alot poorer but let's say it included alot of expletives, alot of pressure on the steering wheel, some needless accleration and mygodithankyouformygoodkarmatoletpeoplehavetheforesighttohaveinventedbrakes kinda of prayer.
The other highlight of the day was Taboo, which is an infinitely fun game that everybody should play.
Quotable Quotes
JL : Oh, yes, I forgot I can talk. This is not Charades
JL: Laugh. laugh.laugh
JL: sputter, sputter, sputter
JL: I don't think I am very good at this
(ok, he didn't say the last one but he should have said it anyway :P)
KD: ....you would defecate through this oriface....
(I mean, who exactly talks like that, normally!!! Really, it was fit for polite teatime chitchat and it would have hardly offended any Victorian sensibilities.)
B: *sound of silence (shock) as she gulps the whole of the "punishment" drink down* (which is one very tall paper cup) "Am I very red? "
Ok, I can't remember the rest. You can fill it with eating, drinking and photowhoring. Interested parties may go to www.tg1314outing.shutterfly.com to view James sitting like a reservist ah peck in the front page. (However, I shall endevour to be nicer to James because he gave me a lift to Orchid Country Club. However, I shall pass on all my insults to Lavan, whom he forgot to ask.
"Oh ya, Lavan hor, he stays near us. I forgot." - as I quote from the horse's mouth. )
5) I shall have to do a honorary mention of my new bus kakis or as Jo christened us, the ten gang. They are Nikki, James and Lavan. And that's it. yes. that was kinda fast. then again, its a blog , no ceromony involved.
6) Yesterday was a marvellous food hunt with Ras. But the most interesting thing we saw was in Siglap Gelare, the graffitti wall (and what memories we have of it, Jo and I =D)
i) Everybody hates somebody called Emo, so Ras and I contributed our 2 cents worth by putting a search grafitti for him called " Finding Emo"
ii) We are now honorary members of a best friend club which has now 7 members instead of 5 and BBF #0 is Ras and BBF#7 is myself. How, like, so, like, exciting. like TOTALLY
iii) We were very disturbed to find the impact that Brokeback Mountain has made on our young 'uns, especially since we found a heartfelt declaration of "Tejas Rao rules my ass", in an unmistakable guyish scrawl.
7) And to sum up the pleasant and unpleasant happenings of the week, I am bloody glad to be single and very happy that I do not like anybody in law or anywhere else. Next time, I complain about lack of eyecandy or male attention, clock me on the head and remind me, with the family dating service set to kick into action in a few years, I can afford to wait for my "Silicon Valley IT engineer hubby. And if he looks like Dean Cain with specs*, he will never want for filter kaapi (coffee) ever, I swear.
* If you have any doubt to how that looks, I had provided a description in one of my earlier posts, which, I unfortunately cannot replicate in full (the post, not the description)
I swear to god, it was Dean Cain a la indian style in front of me. He was probably around 25ish(yes yes, I know. ancient but hey, brad pitt still makes the cut!) shirt, pants and loosened tie. One of those silver bracelets dangling from his nicely muscled arm. He was pretty fit (broad shoulders, narrow waist) and had a peekaboo tattoo on his collarbonish area. (any further, I fear I would blush, the shy virginal vestal maiden I am.hahahha) but without looking all anjack. A little stubble(very classy) He was wearing specs but trust me,it came across as boyishly handsome and this was one "nerd" I wouldn't mind. (you can see how much attention I was paying attention to The Econo-what)
And you can blame all that on the notoriously handsome and dashing Bridgertons and the Cynsters.

10 TRUE things if you are a Vasudha Srinivasan
Things that presumably will only happen if you are a Vasudha Srinivasan (circa. 1986)
1) Your mouth will get cut by an apple
2) You will get sopping wet while holding an umbrella. above your head.
3) You will trip while standing on a standstill bus
4) Your bag straps can never be together. One must always be falling over your shoulder.
5) You will trip despite the fact that somebody has called attention to the fact that there was something there to trip you up.
6) The bus will never wait till you seated comfortably in the upper deck before taking off. You must always be halfway up or walking towards your seat, swaying precariously as the bus will definitely elect to swing at a sharp angle and you will always land unglamourously with a thump
7) In all situations, that would require falling, there must always be a reasonably good looking guy in the vicinity who will be there to snort in derision or laugh at your expense.
8) The rain would always stop once you reach shelter.
9) It will always rain copiously when you are moving in the direction away from home
10) At all unglamourous moments, you will always be accompanied by a friend who is no doubt delicate and feminine.
Such a discovery is due to the tireless efforts I made during the past week, which explains my very long absence.
