To say the new campus and me are the best of friends,
is like saying iron dipped in steel bends ;
or that Kane and Abel are on the mends ;
Or acknowledging burkhas as new trend.
In the deep recesses of district ten,
where resides the Barbies and Kens,
is my campus with construction men
moonlighting as the NUS law den.
Jack and Jill went up a hill to fetch a pail of water
We go up the hill to show off our heels and just totter
If only Jack and Jill were here; they needn't catch the water
Its central catchment area, they can find it in the gutter!!
Oh woe me, I guess its all my fault
with not even a Honda in the vault,
let alone, being part of the Cooper cult
where to walk up the hill would be an insult!
Oh well, moved we completely have
to postulate why would be remiss
when we need the time to nav-
igate our way through the abyss
( ok you can tell the last stanza was so a filler but hey, I'm losing all my creative juice walking up the damned hill.)
I say, jolly good and move the blasted campus to Siglap! (To which, my ever compassionate father says "Think about the people in the West!!" Eh excuse me, are you not the same father who drove into the campus in your car and said, " This is probably one of the few times you, and this car are going to be here at the same time." Anyway, its not like they thought of us when they moved to Kent Ridge right! Besides, doesn't it have a nice ring to it -- " From the East to the West mofo"
Think of all the possibilities
1) THERE IS A HIGHWAY NEAR BY! So all you can cruizzzze control. Plus there is ECPark, the longest park in Singapore. And if you miss BTC, you can bloody well walk halfway there till Sheares Bridge!!
2) Food. walking. distance.
3) There is more than one bus that leads to food not in walking distance.
4) Lots of food everywhere. ITS KATONG!
4) The bus does not pretend to stop at a Katong Mall or Siglap Centre like it pretends to stop at Serene Centre.
6) Not all the centres look like Siglap centre. (i.e. Parkway Parade)
7) There are busES that go to relevent places. One to city hall. One to town. TWO buses to Bugis and one that goes Aljunied (ok not so important) On the other side, got lots of buses that go everywhere (ok look here, coherence is not the issue here)
8) There is a library near by! ( the word library not preceded by CJ Koh. You know the other kind, where other people patronise to read normal books that make it on the NY bestseller list.)
9) There are other schools near by to provide various shades of eyecandy. Possibilities are no longer limited to law years one to four. and er, CCAB.
10) The place actually looks inhabitated. If you need a whiff of poshness and miss the hill, you have Opera Estate. ( you can't do the reverse in BTC, aight.)
11) STARBUCKS! COFFEE. COOOOFEEEEEEEE.
12) er hello, proper drainage. Walking to Adam road, caught in the rain, requires an oar. Sometimes a kayak as well.
13) Its very near my house! ( eh, look here, who's the owner of this blog, me or you?)
and lastly because I believe the campus is a jinx. My laptop has become irreparable, I have been splashed on by gutter water, caught in the rain, have had kahlua latte running across my fingers and lips, lost my sliipper in a puddle and had to trawl about a bit before I retrieved it, ( technically this wasn't BTC but it was on my way to uni so you know its the thought that counts yada yada) , whacked a couple of people on the way out of the bus ( bad karma and all), got stomped on by a brat, missed my second tutorial, lost my way and stubbed my toe and i'm pretty sure various other mishaps await me ( and if anyone of you dare say its because I am ME, and hence possessing she male-ish tendencies, hopelessly ungraceful and klutzy in a completely non endearing non chick lit way, you are probably right but I probably DO NOT WANT to hear it and prefer it to blame in on the dust of BTC which is intefering with my brain signals)
So there.
